Lets get some background information first. PCI is a type of bus for adding in add-on cards (Firewire, Sound, USB, and Video Cards). PCI replace ISA slots and have now been the primary bus used for add-on cards, for the past 8 or so years. During that time a new bus was made AGP, dedicate for video. AGP video cards have a better performance then their PCI counter parts. In the past year PCIx was introduce in the computer market. There are two types of the PCIx bus there is:

PCIx-16x - Dedicate for video, and will replace the AGP bus
PCIx-1x - Will replace the current PCI slots, and will still be able to use the old PCI cards

Now for your question the PCIx video cards will outperform PCI video cards. Hope that this helps you understand PCIx a little more.
