Bought a system today.

Windows XP Pro x64 Edition
Version 2003
Service Pack 1

Turbo 4400+Comb (K8M80-M7A and Sempron 2800+)
1.60 Hgz

The person i bought the pc from said it was goin to be a 5GHZ system.

Why is System Properties showing 1.60 Ghz?

I have read that Sempron 2800+ actually equals 2.0 GHZ clock speed.

That still isn't equal to 5.0 GHZ that I was promised.

Please help clarify this asap as I need to know if this guy is
crooked soon so I can stop the cheque if he is.

Any help appreciated asap.

Thanks

Return the computer. There is no 5 Ghz system anywhere( unless you count a overclocked liquid cooled expernent thats on the internet). Sempron is the celeron of AMD processors so you didnt even get the top of the line processor. The new athlon 64 X2 is close at 4800 ( 2400 clock speed x 2) and the top athlon 64 is at 4000.

Well, there is one close to 5GHZ (mine), but it is not sold anymore. They only made four of them. The closest you can get now is a Pentium Extreme Edition @3.8GHZ.

Wherever you bought that you need to take it back. It all depents how much you spent on it aswell but the guy who told you that is stupid. Sempron is the budget processor like the celeron is the budget processor to intel..

The sempron 2800+ means It would be equivalent to an Intel celeron 2.8ghz.. You could do better than that pc but if you got it for cheap then might as well keep it..

Anyway they dont make 5ghz production pc's yet.. You can buy some close to that but they are like $5000 and highly overclocked with water cooling or phase cooling from custom computer companies on the net.

Where did you buy the pc from?
