Before my harddrive fried and I had to get a new hard drive and boot everything from scratch it DID work. I did have USB 2.0 at one point. From the time I bought it until a couple months ago when my hard drive failed. i know it's possible, I just don't know how... The specifications for this laptop even tell me USB 2.0
