I installed Vista yeterday amd most of the drivers installed automatically, as I expected them to. I opted for the 32 bit version as drivers are more available.

Anyway, I can't install my wireless PCI card as it can't find drivers and the ones on the CD I got with it won't install. I tried pointing it at my XP drivers on C: drive but it won't install them. I had hoped XP drivers might be compatible, as I know 2000 drivers often are if XP ones aren't available.

Anyway, it's a Safecom card, and they don't have any on their site and I don't think they have plans to do any yet, seeing as their FAQ says they are still working on 64-bit drivers. Anyone got any suggestions, as I can't use the internet with Vista at the moment, and this would obviously be useful, and I could find other drivers I still need.

well...without the company making vista compatible drivers..you're kind of out of luck...as those would be the only ones that would work

plus in with a wired adapter, go to windows update

Microsoft has added more drivers since the beta release

That seems to have worked thanks, although I have one unrecognised device left.

Will Everest work with Vista?

If this PC previously had windows xp, what is missing now?

The good news. Everest works on Vista!

It's not telling me what not installed, but I think it's a PCI card for firewire. This is what I get in Device Manager under the details tab of the unknown device "ACPI\PNPB02F
*PNPB02F"

Does that mean it's a PCI PlugnPlay device?

I can live without to be honest, although I suppose it's good to try to get everything working properly.

No, not necessarily pci....acpi=Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

pnp probably means plug and play

From what I can tell from others though, it seems to be a gameport on your motherboard or soundcard

I haven't got a seperate sound card, so must be the game port. the 1394 shows as working, which is the firewire.

I never play games so that one can wait.

Sorry to bump my own thread here.

I installed Vista RC1 yesterday and came across the same PCI network adapter problem as I posted about above.

I installed a wireless USB adapter that seemd to work OK, but every time I try to go to Windowsupdate.com it refers me to use it from the Start menu. When I use it from there it doesn't find the driver for my PCI card, and not does going into Device Manager and selecting Update Driver.

Any ideas? I know I could use the USB adapter, but I want to try to install the PCI card.

PS, I still have the previous version of Vista installed on another HD I can plug in as a slave. Where are the drivers saved?
