I ran all the scans...and the only place I got anything was the virus scan. It was the same file...the windows/system32.AmCTRES.cpy.dll so I guess I'll psyche myself up and try it.

Just one question (well maybe more...but one for now). At the point where I get the command prompt and I'm supposed to type in the
del c:/windows/system32/AmCTRES.dll and then the other
del c:/windows/system32/AmCTRES.cpy.dll ???

Do I enter after each one?
How do I know when it's complete?
after I type in Exit...do I enter?

Your instructions seemed fairly do-able but I really need STEP by STEP instructions. I don't want to end up with a blank screen or anything! Yikes...oh...one more...the disk I use? Is that called the "reinstallation CD"? My XP was installed on the computer when I got it and that's the only disk I can find with Windows XP on it.

Thanks again for you help.

Yes, press enter after typing each line.

That's a bummer <_< I don't think you'll be able to access the recovery console using that CD, but it depends on the mfg.

If you can't-- the other fix is much more involved than even this one. I haven't even recommended anyone try it yet, because it's pretty advanced.

The experts are working on a fix, but it's going slowly. Maybe the best advice is patience. :D

<_< Ok! I'll sit tight and be patient. Is there a way you can email me and let me know if/when an easier solution is found??

Thanks so much for your help!

I wish I could, but the reality is we're getting about 50 new posts/day, and it could be a couple weeks until they find a fix. So, I'm not going to make any promises. :D

As soon, as a fix is available I'm sure it will be implemented into Ad-aware. You can download the latest update occassionally, or just post a reply to this thread and ask. <_<

Ettiquite to move your post to the top of the list is a bump post. Simply reply with the word "bump", or "^bump^" if you want to be fancy :D . That simple reply will "bump" your topic to the top of the forum, and let us know you're still needing assistance.
