Hi,

On all shortcuts etc say I save a word doc it ends all of them with .doc and the same goes with programs. I just downloaded the new msn messenger and it downloaded but with .exe at the end. Its never done this any ideas?

??

You downloaded an executable program and want to know why it has an executable extension?

the "extension" -- .doc, .exe, .rtf, etc....tells windows what program to use to open a file

.exe=means executable, or run this file
