battlefield 2 error

I had this problem for awhile now and at first thought it was my 64 bit Windows xp pro. Now that I have reinstalled the computers OS to a copy of Windows xp pro 32bit other issues I had have now cleared up. Yet I am still having the issue with this game. I find the game closed completely out to the desktop without seeming any reason. It does not matter how many times I restart the game it’s the same issue over and over again and it is only when I play online, only one time has the game closed while playing one player mode. Any help would be great, thanks.

Computer’s Specs
-Windows XP Pro 32bit ED.
-DFI Motherboard.
-ATI X1800 XT PCI Express 512MB
-2 GB Ram
