a am setting up a network at home and have got a wireless router. do i need a host computer to allow my one laptop wireless adsl internet?

please reply asap!!

This the off topic, you might want to have posted this in the networking forum ill get it moved for you.

And to your question no it can connect directly to the router if it has a compatible wireless card in it.

Good question. When you first need to install/setup the router and your network, you will need to connect the router and the laptop over ethernet. So you need to have the laptop (which will eventually be wireless) plugged in over Ethernet so you can properly setup the router. Once setup is complete, and you grant your laptop access (ONLY if you setup a MAC address or passcode protection), then simply unplug the cord, and you should be all set.

i have got adsl broadband but bought a wireless router which had a modem, built in. i only have one computer in the network but want to be able to move it around the house. i cant get it to connect to the internet through the router at all. it is a belkin 802.11g. no installation disk and can only access the router through using the old adsl modem and connection. how do i set it up. any help much appreciated.
