I would appreciate any help to rid my system of the tenacious zestyware. I mistakenly went to a malicious website that destroyed my spyware-free computer. Since the mistake, here is a list of new problems with my machine:

1. 3 icons reload on my desktop every reboot all with zestyware addresses
2. Unauthorized popups from www.loadingwebsite.com during IE6 sessions
3. Vundo virus loads twice on every reboot, but my McAfee kills it immediately, but not permanently!
4. When running CWShredder.exe the feared MS Blue Screen of Death shows up upon reboot.

HELP! Here is my recent HJT Log after running the most up-to-date AdAware & Spybot

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left. :tazz:

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

A few things that came up as I followed your latest instructions:
1. wkwvrr.exe was not found on the process list
2. There were no O1 items in the HJT list to delete
3. There were no andrxbhfs.exe, MISAKX.exe, or n20050308.exe files
For all these items, I triple-checked and then moved on to your next recommended step. Hopefully that is OK.

So, here is the lastest HJT file after following your instructions less the unfound items...

Deleted the reccommended item O9... Here is the logfile afterwards.

The computer is running great! All 4 of the problems I originally listed are GONE! You are amazing! I wish I understood how to read these logfiles, but I cannot even begin to describe how greatful I am for your help. I am actually blown away at the generosity of folks like yourself to assist in helping complete strangers clean up all this spyware mess.

On a more philisophical note, this spyware problem needs to be addressed on a mush higher level. Although I am a proponent of smaller government, I think this may be an issue that needs that level of support. My spyware problem, probably one out of 100's of millions of computers affected, consumed your time to help me, my time of lost productivity due to computer slowdowns and following your repair instructions, plus all the wasted bandwidth to deliver all the spyware info, etc. This is extremely wasteful. Brite folks like yourself could be using your talents to develop more sophisticated software rather than fixing the sins of exploitation artists.

Again, I greatly appreciate your efforts! From your tag line it appears that you are a wife, a mother, a coach, etc. These activities are obviously your top priority, yet you still took the time to help a stranger. I wish I could repay you, but know that I am greatly appreciative! If there is ever someway I could help an anti-spyware effort (petitions, letters to offcials, etc) drop me an email and I will help anyway I can.

Best regards,
(name edited for user's protection) :tazz:

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN :tazz:

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. ;)
