LOST Hard Drive

It appears that I have just lost my hard drive on my 6 month old Dell system. I get a blue screen after the machine ties to boot up with the message "Unmountable_Boot_Volume". I have unsuccessfuly tried to boot from both the XP cd and from DOS. Is there any way that I can get to the data off of this hard drive before I replace it....... looking for help or advise.

If the drive is readable as a slave drive you may be able to recover files.
Here are a couple of options:
1. setup your drive as a slave in another pc
2. setup your drive as a slave in your pc after installing a new drive
