Hi I3east,

* Updating Java:
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.
  • Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Then Download and install the newest version from here:http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
* Spyware Doctor's OnGuard protective functionality may interfere with certain HijackThis fixes we need to make. Please follow these instructions to disable it:

To deactivate Spyware Doctor's OnGuard Tools

1. From within Spyware Doctor, click the "OnGuard" button on the left side.
2. Uncheck "Activate OnGuard".

You can re-enable it once your system is clean.

* Please launch Notepad (Click Start> Run> type in the box notepad) and copy paste the following text:

--------------------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"NI.SYP_0001_N56E1711"=-

--------------------------------------------

Save it to your desktop as fix.reg and save the Type to All files. You'll see an ice cube icon.
Then double click on it an allow when prompted to merge with the registry.

* Go to Start> Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs and uninstall if listed:

SysProtect

* Please re-open HijackThis and scan. Check the below entries (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcc.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysProtect] C:\Program Files\SysProtect\syp.exe /scan
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NI.SYP_0001_N56E1711] "C:\DOCUME~1\Shane\LOCALS~1\Temp\WFX1.exe" -nag

Close any open windows except for HijackThis then click on Fix checked. Exit the program.

* Using Windows Explorer (right click Start> Select Explore) delete the following file or folder if present:

C:\Program Files\SysProtect
C:\DOCUME~1\Shane\LOCALS~1\Temp\WFX1.exe

* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
* Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report
* Post back the ActiveScan report with a new hijackthis log, please.

Hi I3east,

* Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
Save it to your desktop but don't run it yet.

* Please launch Notepad and copy paste the following text:

----------------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{6D33B121-5C4C-4450-9D1F-7B67085CC199}]

-----------------------------------------

Save it to your desktop as fix2.reg and save the Type to All files. You'll see an ice cube icon.
Then double click on fix2.reg and allow when prompted to merge with the registry.

* Please re-open HijackThis and scan. Check the below entry if found:

O2 - BHO: WTLHelper Object - {6D33B121-5C4C-4450-9D1F-7B67085CC199} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcc.dll (file missing)

Close any open windows except for HijackThis then click on Fix checked. Exit the program.

* Boot into Safe mode by tapping F8 as your computer restarts.

Delete the following folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\Shane\Favorites\Fun & Games
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinSoftware
C:\Program Files\PeDevice

* Delete your cookies then please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    c:\windows\system32\drivers\sscan.sys
    c:\windows\system32\df_kme.exe
    c:\windows\abiuninst.htm
    c:\windows\hisistheurls.exe
    c:\windows\msxct1.ini
    c:\windows\ubber60.ini
    c:\windows\system32\SahImages
    c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\vidctrl
    C:\HJT\backups\backup-20050314-161559-769.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWFX5LP_0001_0614NetInstaller.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcd.dll

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

* Run a new Panda Active scan and post the result with a fresh hijackthis log, please.

Hi I3east,

* Your HijackThis log looks fine. Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

* 1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\sscan.sys
c:\windows\system32\df_kme.exe
c:\windows\abiuninst.htm
c:\windows\hisistheurls.exe
c:\windows\msxct1.ini
c:\windows\ubber60.ini
C:\HJT\backups\backup-20050314-161559-769.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\UWFX5LP_0001_0614NetInstaller.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\thoklk.exe

Folders to delete:
C:\Documents and Settings\Shane\Favorites\Fun & Games
c:\windows\system32\SahImages
c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\vidctrl
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinSoftware
C:\Program Files\PeDevice

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply
