Alright, here's the skinny: I installed Vista on my computer and I love it. My g/f loved it also, so wanted it on her's. I installed it, but now, she wants XP again. Women.

Anyway, I ran the settings transfer wizard and saved all her stuff before I reformatted and installed XP again. But now, I can't use the transfer wizard in XP to migrate the files, and the transfer wizard on the vista dvd won't give the option to transfer to an old computer, only to a new computer.

So basicly, I have a .mig file that i need to transfer the settings in back on a xp computer. Does anyone know a way?

ugh..not sure that is even possible

I'd probably do a dual boot and migrate the .mig file to vista and then manually move it all back.

I've been trawling the vista beta newsgroups and no one seems to have any info on this topic

Ah, thanks for the help though. I figure I'll just migrate it onto my computer and then transfer it over piece by piece. Was hoping for an easier solution, but I guess Microsoft hadn't antipcated people disliking Vista. Thanks though fella.

vista is still very much a beta

things like that will come later

As it is, people should not be installing their primary machine until it is complete.

There is supposedly another vista release for consumers to preview coming in August...perhaps that will be a little more polished.
