hi
my machine is now deciding that the cd/dvd rom drive does not exist .

when i uninstall and reinstall it says that the drive has been found but then has a problem with installation.

when i look up the problem it says the drive does not exist and the drivers are installed satisfactorarily.

but the cd drive still opens / closes and spins as though it is reading.....

any ideas anyone ??

thanks in advance.

machine is a Packard bell easynote H5

fitted drive is a NEC DVD +- RW ND-6500A.

hi all.

i have just attempted to back up a dvd, for someone, and have now found that although the machine acknowledges a dvd rom recorder etc.
it only allows it to be used as a cd rom drive, not even a recorder.

i have tried adding a usb peripheral recorder and it says that this is a cd rom drive too

anyone got any further ideas as to how to recover the information to re install a dvd recorder ?

model is nec dvd+-rw nd-65000a and is built into the laptop as original equiupment
