Hi.

Here is my problem. I am running Windows 98 SE (not by choice) and I recently opened up firefox 1.5.0.4 to find that all of my bookmarks were gone, the search engines in the integrated searching in the top right were cleared. When I try to readd the engines, they just don't show up. In addition to this, I cannont delete anything from the page history. I can right click and select delete, but it just does not go away. Needless to say I was frustrated. I got over it though.

I figured it was a bug, and that I would uninstall and reinstall and all would be okay. The problem is that when I uninstall, the uninstaller opens and is running, but nothing appears on the screen. (so says the task manager)

I have hit a lot of dead ends... Anyone else have any thoughts?

maybe try uninstalling in safe mode. f8 on startup and you're in safemode.

That is one of the walls I hit.

Uninstall is just as unresponsive in safe mode.

I don't know because it doesn't open. It is running, but nothing shows up on my screen.

I found out that the file, localstore.rdf, was corrupt.

To fix this, I searched the file name, and I deleted this file . Firefox will restore this file, and the corruption was history.
