I have a problem (M2N-E). After installation some XP - Maxi Ultima with service pack 3, now i can't instal sound device! In device manager > I don;t have PCI Device (PCI bus 0, device 6, function 1) for sound card! Whan I want to instal sound driver he said: THE HDA AUDIO BUS DRIVER IS REQUIRED AND NOT FOUND! I try to find new driver, but...nothing!!!

I had the problem with the "The HD Audio bus driver is required and not found" with the HD audio enabled in BIOS on windows xp sp2. I let windows find the driver (hardware wizard) and install it. It works !! (without hotfix install or extra driver download).

PS: It was an ugly thing from asus, after paying big $ for my mobo had problems with onboard component on the "all present" windows xp.

Ok, this problem is really starting to piss me off.

I've followed all the instructions in this thread, and it's still not working. Basically, I've got the hdaudbus.sys file in my system32/drivers folder. When I go to install the driver for that PCI device, I direct the wizard to system32. After about 10 seconds of 'searching', the wizard tells me that it failed to find the file. What am I doing wrong? I've also tried putting it on a CD, and getting a floppy emulator as well. I've done everything I can think of and nothing has helped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

I had the same problem! here's what fixes it.

First you need to find the HDA driver from somewhere online, shouldn't be too hard. Then :

Right Click, 'My computer'
Left Click, Tab labeled 'Hardware'
Left Click, Button labeled 'Driver Manager'
Right Click, PCI Device with yellow exclamation mark (This is the Audio Card)
Left Click, Either 'Update Driver' or 'Install Driver'

Follow the wizard and find the file it wants(HDAudBUS.sys), this is the audio card! Once you find the file, and install it go back to the M2n-E cd-rom and it will start right up! I registered just so I could post this to help other people! BTW, it's not a PCI device, it's an onboard audio, it just appears that way in the device manager.

Hello i am having a similar problem with the same mobo. I have done everything i can think of, reinstall the os "xp sp2" try automatic updates, and i even tried flashing the bios, tho that didnt work cause it wouldnt allow me to do so. Anyway i have a yellow ! next to my Mulitmedia audio controller, pci device and pci input device. i have an on borad sound card and a sb that i would rather use. this all of a sudden happend after i rebooted my computer. Any ideas? i have tried the methods listed above for the similar problem with no luck. Thank you.

I had the same problem on my Asus M2N32 WS when installing XP SP3.
My solution was to download the following microsoft hotfix : KB888111

You will get an e-mail with instructions on how to retrieve the files.
Once the files are saved, use 7-zip or a different zip extract utility or similar to unzip the file: kb888111xpsp2.exe (if you are running XP)
You can then do a manually driver update from device manager and point to the folder: "KB888111_Supported_OS_All_Languages\us\x86fre\kb888111xpsp2\commonfiles" and the driver will be installed.
You can then install the sound driver.

This worked for me, and I hope this can be helpful for all of you.
