Hi

I got this W32.Netsky.P@mm!enc virus a couple of days ago , but my AVG can't find it. Norton antivirus detects it , but can't deal with it.
What to do, what to do........

Hi Maruska. Welcome back. :tazz:

Please Click here!, and follow the recommendations in the guide.

If you're still having trouble, We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool, Hijack This. Follow the instructions in step five of this guide, and post your log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Most of what Hijack This lists lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O8 - Extra context menu item: Search - C:\Programs\Avant\Search.htm

O9 - Extra button: bet365 Poker - {B1BA4A3F-1C95-497b-9F82-F8DA4A5C89DD} - C:\Program Files\bet365MPP\MPPoker.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot and post a new log.

Hi. Thanks for the fast reply :tazz: . Here's a lew log.
BTW, found something strange. When I do send/recieve in my outlook, i get a "Netsky Virus" pop-up, but when i ran a full system scan, norton didn't find anything. Strange. Turned off system restore, ran the norton once again, but it didn't find anything (on the other hand - why would it???). Anyhow, when i turned on system restore and send/recieved in the outlook - the pop-up was gone. I don't know what happened, but it seems like the Ntsky is gone (or not ;) ). Can you explain this to me.

Run Hijack This and put check marks next to these:

O8 - Extra context menu item: Highlight - C:\Programs\Avant\Highlight.htm
O8 - Extra context menu item: Open All Links in This Page... - C:\Programs\Avant\OpenAllLinks.htm

Are you running two anti-virus or are you using one as scan only? Don't have two going at the same time. Other than that, you look clean. :tazz:
