Hi im working on my first PC and im trying to keep it under $1,100. (monitor included) And the ideal setup of parts looks like it will exceed that. So i need some help trimming down my selection. Now a friend of mine who was helping me pick parts said running 2 250 gb hdd's was better than running 1 hdd with comparable size for much less price...he mentioned something about RAID, but i quickly became confused. So my question is: is it better to run 2 hdd's or does it not make a difference?

Which, at 200 dollars was more than i had alotted to spend in that area. Does anyone know where i can get that much RAM for a lower price?

Question 3: This is a gaming rig, so the video card is crucial. Right now im looking at http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130032
But it too seems rather expensive at $270. Anyone have suggestions for something comparable but maybe a little bit cheaper?

Look thru newegg more for the same type of memory, they have other 2x1 gigabyte kits which are cheaper. Here are some:

Corsair 2x1gb - $147.99

Patriot 2x1gb Dual Channel - $144.99

Mushkin 2x1gb - $170 with a $20 mail in rebate available

Kingston 2x1gb - $156

Anything cheaper then $145 and you will be buying crap, if you need even cheaper i suggest cuting your purchase from 2gigs to 1.


As for the Video card, the 7900GT is a very good card and thats why it is pricey, if you are a big gamer (you seem like you are since you said its a gaming rig your buildin) I suggest sticking with that card if you can afford it you wont regret it and there isnt really another card like that you can get for cheaper.

If you wish you could take a look at the Evga 7600GT but this card is significantly worse.

I have come to my decision on my system if you could overlook it and point out any potentioal problems id appreciate it.

I would go for the corsair or patriot ram over the Gskill myself, Your PSU is a very expensive one thats not bad but something to bear in mind you could get one alot cheaper and it would still be good, maybe an enermax or an antec.
