i wasn't there when it happened but according to my cousin it's a virus
so now when i turned on my old laptop nothing works....nothing...
i lost the orginally disc so i don't know what to do now
i heard you can format a computer with a floppy disc before
anyone know how? or what else should i do?

When you say nothing will it power on? If so will it show anything on the screen a error message or anything like that?

yeah it will power on but it will take me to the home screen

Then what exactly happends, does it reboot or just freez. or is it a blue screen with alot of writting on it?

Ok, could you tell me what exectly happends in grave detail, do you get any kind of error message? And a few seconds after you power up do you get a black screen with two options 1. Windows ME and 2. Windows XP for about 5-30 seconds? And what exacly wont work? Programs? Files? Etc.

every program i click on have an error message
it says something like program cannot be found
everything else looks window me
and start up is normal until it's done and no program works
