I have a HP Pavilion a1440n and Windows Xp does not see the hard drive. In the BIOS the HD is read as SAMSUNG SP2504. When I run the XP cd it gives me Unknown Disk. I ran Boot and Nuke and it saw the drive as Samsung ( i did the autonuke option). I believe the HD was effected by a virus because I kept getting Windows error messages and now windows cannot locate the drive. Please help.

The drive is empty

You have set the boot priority to CD ROM Drive then hard drive

You boot with the XP CD in the drive, you press enter when you see press any key to load from CD

Samsung have this, are you able to save it to disc with a PC then install it on yours?

http://www.samsung.c...p...m&language=

It is hutil, the only thing listed for the hard drive, but it doesn't say what it is, so you may want to check with samsung that it is the hard drive set up utility

But how can i run it on that PC? I cannot connect this HD to any other PC because it has some SATA or ATA connection not like those IDE connectors.
