It will shut off randomly, just started a couple days ago. So I went to system restore and every point I try to restore to it is unable to complete, so I guess all my restore points are corrupted.

My computer is a 2002 HP pavilion 7966, Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2, Intel Pentium 4, 1.7GHz with 1.00 GB of RAM.

I may just end up going and buying Windows XP Home Edition again and do a hard format. Even when it is running good I can tell it is slower than it should be. It's probably all clogged up with Spyware from the past 4 years.

Run disc clean up, click more options, click clean up restore points, confirm

Set a restore point then reboot and see if you can use the restore point you just created

Download and install Everest Home Edition

Run the programme, click + next to computer then sensor, give it a minute to show the temperatures, post those please

Then click summary

Look on the right for display / video adapter

Look at the manufacturer’s site for the suitable drivers for your Operating System

If you are unable to find them, please post the make and model here before you download anything

Please set a system restore point before you install anything

I went out and bought Windows XP Home Edition full version did a full format and discovered that my hard drive was bad. So I installed a new hard drive and installed Windows XP after the format. Did all the windows updates, installed my Trend Micro anti virus and Spy Sweeper and everything looked good. Then it restarted on me a couple times and after one the display decreased and stuck. It's stuck on 640 x 480 and 4 bit color quality and it won't let me change it.

I don't know where to get software for this issue.

In my device manager it says... Dell 1905FP (analog) under "Monitors" and NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro under "Display adaptors"

I didn't have to use that download, I just uninstalled the graphics driver and when I restarted windows xp popped up with new hardware found.

In Everest, click the + next to computer then sensor, give it a minute to show the temperatures, post any it gives, minimize Everest then check it every ten minutes to see if the temperatures are going up
