Can you ask here what the recovery CD's you have are capable of

Some will restore the system with data intact, some will only restore the notebook to windows and no data

Give it a while, then maybe try later, it's 6 am here, not sure what it is where you are

when i tried to pick a restore point, the earliest one available way may 2nd. I have had this computer since august of 02?????

I ran the chkdsk /f /r thing and it got back to the desktop very quickly, now what do i do???

It shouldn't have finished quickly
Right click the taskbar, click task manager, type chkdsk /f /r then press enter, type Y, press enter and reboot
When it gets to the desktop, open task manager and type sfc /scannow then press enter
Did HP get back to you

i cant even get to the desktop anymore. HP SUCKS! they had me do all of this stuff and it wont even get close to booting and now i cant even boot from my restoration disks. My drives are all screwed up and i need to shoot the computer

Go back to HP, ask them to escalate it, ask for a supervisor
