Have a look at paint.net from my signature, versions 2.5 and above need .net framework 2

It is free and will give you something to play with as image editing can be very involved

With paid for programmes you are probably looking at photoshop CS2

photoshop cs2 is my favorite at the moment

i've used jasc paint shop pro which worked well


for free....

the gimp is pretty darned capable...once you learn how to use it

Other cheaper alternatives can be Ulead photo impact. It is very much like Paint Shop Pro in the way it works. I personally like using Corel Photo Paint which i get with the Corel Draw graphics suite. I like the Photo Paint because it has most of the Adobe photoshop controls at a much nicer price. I paid $90 for Corel Draw graphics suite from Ebay.

Guys, thanks for the replies.

Can you suggest a freeware program to convert bitmap images to vector images ?Can Photoshop CS2 do it?
