My cd drive crashes my pc and makes it instantly restart.......Help

I have had this problem for a while and thought it was the old drives that made the pc crash. I then went out and bought a new combi drive from LG and this has the same problem. I put a cd into the drive and the led flashes for 2 or 3 seconds and when it starts to read. the whole computer crashes and restarts. I am not a computer wizard and cannot give a more detailed response. Thankyou for any feedback
