To make a long story short, I have been infected with the Puper Trojan virus, that gives me the BSOD every time I try to run Ad-Aware or MacAfee, I could still use the computer, but now my computer tried to run CHKDSK at startup and the power was interrupted in stage 4 and now it will not restart, giving me a stop message of 0x000024 and then four sets of other numbers.
It instructs me to run CHKDSK, but I am unable to start Windows normally, in Safe mode, in Safe mode w/ networking or command prompt.
How can I encourage Windows to start normally or at least allow CHKDSK to run and repair.
Thanks.

You can use this guide to repair XP

Possibly, you will need to press the start button and keep tapping the delete key, (possibly F2) until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

You will need the XP product key to complete this

If you have audio / video files which are subject to DRM you should check with the provider for known issues with performing an XP repair install

XP Repair Install

Windows XP repair feature won't delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system

After running XP Repair you will need to install all Windows Updates

Microsoft Update

Unplug it from the mains, use the switch on the back off the case to turn it off, if no switch, remove the plug from the mains and then the lead from the tower

Give it a minute, plug it back in, boot the PC
