When I try to open a link that is on a page from Internet Explorer, It starts to open a page, then hangs up without ever placing the address of the link in the address bar. I have ran all the security downloads that were listed on this site. I DID have viruses that were removed. Still, the computer does the same thing.

I am guessing you have IE 5. You can do a repair on the browser.

Control Panel / Add/Remove / Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools /
Add/Remove / Repair Internet Explorer

Click Yes when prompted to confirm the repair.

If that does not work you might download IE 5.5. You can find it on the net. There are some basic problems running IE 6 on a win 98 system.
