Radeon 9250 Multiple Monitor Problem

I came across a second monitor so thought i would use the extended desktop feature in XP. Easy? NOPE! I have tried everything possible, read as many forum topis as I can find, and even referred to the user manual that comes with the card! Having repeated every step a countless number of times, i still cant get an extended desktop. Something that is weird is when i click identify in the display settings the number 1 is displayed on both screens, however if i take a screen cap when i do this i get a 1 on the frist and a 2 on the second. Please can somebody suggest something?
