Hello,

I've read and completed the steps in the "Geeks to Go! You must read this before posting a hijack this log," and I'm still getting loads of popups (despite having an earthlink popup blocker). I welcome your guidance in getting control of my computer back. It's not as bad since I did the steps outlined in the above-mentioned thread, but it's still very annoying, with a poker popup interrupting me even as I write this now. Not sure it's still the same loadingwebsite.com & urllogic.com I had at the beginning... it may be branching out.

Here's my hijack this log:

Hi newfie56

Welcome to geekstogo ;)

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Thanks for your quick response, thatman. I downloaded L2mfix as you suggested but, when I double click on 12mfix.bat I get a black screen that says Syntax error and then a white screen over that that says "Not compatible with 9x or windows nt." I'm running Windows ME.

In other words, I don't get to option #1.

I appreciate your help and look forward to your response.

Hi newfie56

Please download the following program:
http://castlecops.co.../FindIt9xME.zip

unzip the contents to a folder. When it has unzipped, open that folder and double click on Find.bat. It will run for a while, so be patient, and then produce a log (ignore any File not found messages on the screen, it should continue anyway).

Please copy and paste that log here.

Hi newfie56

Sorry for the delay in replying :tazz:

Please download Ad-aware Se

vx2 cleaner add on tool

1. If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware installed, during the installation of the new version you will be prompted to uninstall or keep the older version - be sure to uninstall the previous version.
2. After installing Ad-aware, you will be prompted to update the program and run a full scan. De-select all boxes so that it does not run.
3. Manually run "Ad-Aware SE Personal" and from the main screen Click on "Check for Updates Now".
4. Once the definitions have been updated:
5. Reconfigure Ad-Aware for Full Scan as per the following instructions:
* Launch the program, and click on the Gear at the top of the start screen.
* Under General Settings the following boxes should all be checked off: (Checked will be indicated by a green circle with a check mark in it, Un-Checked is a red circle with an X in it. If it is greyed out, those features are only available in the retail version.)
o "Automatically save logfile"
o Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"
o Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
o Prompt to update outdated confirmation) - Change to 7 days.
* Click the "Scanning" button (On the left side).
* Under Drives & Folders, select "Scan within Archives"
* Click "Click here to select Drives + folders" and select your installed hard drives.
* Under Memory & Registry, select all options.
* Click the "Advanced" button (On the left hand side).
* Under "Shell Integration", select "Move deleted files to Recycle Bin".
* Under "Log-file detail", select all options.
* Click on the "Defaults" button on the left.
* Type in the full url of what you want as your default homepage and searchpage e.g. http://www.google.com.
* Click the "Tweak" button (Again, on the left hand side).
* Expand "Scanning Engine" by clicking on the "+" (Plus) symbol and select the following:
o "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
o "Obtain command line of scanned processes"
o "Scan registry for all users instead of current user only"
* Under "Cleaning Engine", select the following:
o "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion."
o "During removal, unload explorer and IE if necessary"
o "Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot."
o "Delete quarrantined objects after restoring"
* Click on "Safety Settings" and select "Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc)"
* Click on "Proceed" to save these Preferences.
* Click on the "Scan Now" button on the left.
* Under "Select Scan Mode, be sure to select "Use Custom Scanning Options".
6. Close all programs except ad-aware.
7. Click on "Next" in the bottom right corner to start the scan.
8. Run the Ad-Aware scan and allow it to remove everything it finds and then REBOOT - Even if not prompted to.
9. After you log back in, Ad-Aware may run to finalize the scan and remove any locked files that it may of found. Allow it to finish.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Hi newfie56

Please run the following free, online virus scans.
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Both the programs now have malware removal tools
Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi thatman. In the Trend Micro scan, there was no log option. The results of the scan of my hard drive revealed:

Virus: TROJ DLDR.2 ---- non cleanable -- file: c\recycled\protect\00241819.exe

It gave me the option of deleting said file, which I did.

Here's my hijackthis log:
