I was given a sony viao fxa53 laptop, that the only problem is when you turn it on all you get is a bright blank white screen. If you hook up an external monitor there is no problem at all. The person that gave it to me had said it fell from a table. The screen has no cracks or marks on it at all. Anyone out there ever had this sort of problem? Should I start with the big ticket item and replace the lcd (about $200) or does this sound more like a motherboard problem, and is there any way to test to narrow it down. TIA. :whistling:

to a tech and then can tell you what you need to do.

also it could be the inverter

for parts black light for LCD screens ( lcdpart.com/doc/ccfl.html )
