The "SYSTEM" process is taking up 50+% of CPU and causing symptoms including:

1. mouse pointer hangs and jumps
2. lag in typing and characters showing up on the screen
3. screen reacts slow or pauses
4. when watching a movie, there are pauses that are very annoying.

This is a new image of XP Professional from our IT dept.

I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
