Well, I've seen a lot of build topics and I've finally decided that I'm going to build my own system. Here is my newegg wishlist. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind that I will be using it for basic multimedia tasks (CD/DVD burning, etc.) and some gaming. I'm not concerned with being able to run every game on the highest setting, I just want them to be playable.

its a 2.8 ghz pentium D duo core with 1 gb ram 128 mb vga pci express 160 gb hardrive its pretty cheap for $650 after rebate. Oh and u get a free 17" LCD from dell with it.

dude that rig is fine, the one twisted recommended isnt that great. your rig is great. good to see people research before they ask.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Techie. Really my only concern is whether or not the Mobo is strong enough to support future upgrades. Say the next 3-5 yrs.

If your worry is the motherboard i would reccomend going for something from the nforce 5 range rather than the 4.

I would reccomend a video card with at least 256Mb of RAM though unless you dont intend to do anything graphically intensive, if thats the case just get something cheaper.

if that is what your worried about, get the MSI K9N Platinum (not 2 be confused with the SLi Platinum) the platinum is great, and thats the one im getting with my rig sometime by the end of summer.
