hi,
i did a scan on my pc after finding that ctrl-alt-delete wouldn't work.
i found that i had trojans on my pc.
stupidly, i then installed various critical updates from windows website.
when i re-booted i got various error messages, with one being that the registry couldn't be found.

the screen then showed the windows toolbar very quickly which then disappeared to a blank screen.

when i try to enter safe mode the same thing happens - toolbar appears then vanishes.
any suggestions?

i've got a dos disk so can get to the command line.
have tried restore from the command line, restore an earlier version then reboot.
but it won't complete....it locks when updating files (the drum symbol thing!)

when i go into it again i see that the restore wasn't complete.

i'm at the end of my tether! any suggestions?
thanks
barry
