I no longer have any sounds......nothing during startup, none when checking Email......I even put a music CD in the disk drive......nothing. I have checked the obvious like are the speakers hooked up properly(HAHAHA). I went into "Files" section today and searched for all files created today and then manually deleted some files I felt were added from viewing some websites froma google search......could I have deleted something I was not supposed to by mistake???. This problem of no sound happened immediately after I deleted some of the files.

I have Windows 98 and IBM Aptiva series 240

Thanks for any help.

Have you tried reinstalling the sound device driver? It should be available for your computer at IBM.com, search for your computer model.
