My first system build. I'm fine if you guys want to give your two cents about what's cheaper/better (I'm always looking for good stuff) but as for now, I just want to make sure this is all compatible. I've found some mobos that support a 1066mhz FSB but they don't support Core 2 Duo, so I'd like to see if this worked. I believe it does, but just double checking. ^_^

I plan on purchasing an E6600 Core 2 Duo.

I found an Asus P5LD2 Deluxe Intel Socket 775 ATX Motherboard, here.

I found a HSF here.

And I got a 550-watt power supply. Now really, is there a difference between a 500-watt PSU and a 550-watt PSU? I'll be running a two HD's, a DVD burner, and I want to purchase a Sapphire Radeon X1800XT 256mb for $199.99 from Newegg.

That's basically it besides some ol' Corsair 2x 512 RAM. Input please. =)

Well, I was assuming it supported Conroe since it supports 1066mhz FSB and it's labeled by Tigerdirect under Intel's 945P chipset, which I read was Conroe compatible. I also heard from people that if a mobo supports a Pentium D, there's a good chance it supports a Core 2 Duo.

Found a new mobo, at Newegg. Much cheaper, still offers what I want, Conroe compatible. The only real problem people seem to be having is using 1.8v RAM... that's PC4200 correct? It's basically the cheapest mobo that supports Core 2... all the other ones are sold out anyways. =p It would leave me happy.
