dell "support" is useless

i have a dell inspiron 1150 laptop with sigma tel audio internal speakers. recently i have lost all sound from them. my headphone jack still produces sound , however. i would be happy to supply any neccessary information to anyone who might be able to help me. finally hung up on dell after holding for tech support for 1hr 10 min

I've got a Gateway laptop with the same Sigma Tel device and I have no sound. Not even from the headphones. In my case I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue.
