After I install an ATI driver, an error box pops up that says: "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup."

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Use Cat uninstaller from ATI to remove any you have

Use the software CD which came with the card

ATI say these are the best ones to use unless you have performance issues with the card

What card is it, unless its an x1000 as Keith has said use the original drivers, also often you have to reinstall the .net framework specifically version 1.1.
