I know this question has been asked before (http://www.geekstogo...showtopic=52580). In that post, most people reported that the problem was resolved after removing Google Toolbar, but it didn't work for me. So hear me out and I hope someone can help.

I am using Windown XP professional and IE 6.0.

Two days ago, I was surfing the internet and everything worked fine. Then a pop-up window appeared saying something about "Add-on." I closed it without reading it. Afterwards I was not able to open any more websites. The night before, the computer did automatic Window Updates.

Now when I open a webpage, it will take forever and a error message would appear saying

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information"

I have removed all Google Add-Ons yesterday and restart the computer, but it didn't resolve the problem. I scanned system for virus, spyware, adware and found nothing. I also did system restore and the problem is still there. Now I am using FireFox and I can get online just fine, but I would really like to fix this problem in Internet Explore. Please help me!!!

go here and download/install.

IF that doesn't work

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
