Hi there,
I've been referred here as my computer seems to be over heating. I need to open it up to give it a bit of a clean. Can you advise me as to the best way of going about this? It's a farely new Compaq. I'm at work and can't remember the model. If you need that please let me knwo and I will post it when I get home.

Cleaning is easy enough, the inside of the case and all non electronic parts(fans etc.) can be done with a slightly damp cloth, then electronics a dry cloth or paper towel first then after immobilising fans(i use cable ties for this but for thourough cleaning you would remove them from the system) you then use either compresed air or a vacum cleaner to get the rest of the dust out.

I would also like to point out the fact that you stated it was a fairly new Compaq computer. Make sure that you won't be voiding any warranties that are still in effect if you take the side panel off the case.
