I format the drive, then during setup i press f6 and load my sata driver from the mobo cd, windows then copies over the needed install files and reboots.
After reboot error message comes up, "disc read error has occured, press ctrl+alt+del to restart".

I'm not using a raid setup just 1 sata hd on its own, the controller in bios is set to "sata2" instead of "raid".

any ideas because its a real pain.

p.s. run maxtor diagnostic tools and nothings wrong with the hd, plugged it into another system and it shows up in my computer, you just cant boot from it.
