I have Toshiba Tecra A3 laptop running win xp professional 32-bit. Since this afternoon computer arrives at "Windows is starting up" screen then stops, and the HDD led is out so system is idle. I have read other people's problems but they all eventually manage to arrive at logon page. Have tried safe mode boot, but will not work - same problem. Tried booting from cd and running system repair but when it asks me to type the administrator password, it won't accept either my account's password or the admin password (which i have never changed from the default - which i believ is nothing!!!) I would be very appreciative if you could help...

Hello there,

you tried to run the Command which can be used to fix smaller Problems like a brogen MBR.

If you want to repair your Windows boot from CD and choose "New install". After you accepted the License ( [F8]) the setup searches for som previous installed Windows and will show up them. Choose the Windows you want to repair and press [R]. Then follow the instructions.
