This is an odd one.

On this computer Internet Expolrer, Firefox and Netscape works fine. I can use IE 6.0 SP1 and surf anywhere. However whenever I hit the update button on top, it locks up.

I did a sfc /scannow and use the XP disk, restarted and it still does it. As long as I don't go to the update site, everything is fine.

I also read something about changing my registry from 1 to 0. Again, everything works fine, until I go to the update site.

There's no error shown, but cannot close the window. Use task manager to end the task.

Any idea what I can do, before I reformat the hard drive and start all over.

Thanks in advance

it locked up the computer this time.

Just started reformatting the hard drive.

Will do a complete clean install of XP and go from there.
