I'm having so much problems these days with viruses. Pestrap got me before and now I think it's spywareno. the little pestrap thing with the warning is still there cus there was a small box to minimize it and i did so it has been stuck at the upper left of my desktop. ive ran ad aware personal edition a couple times and it never seems to get whatever is wrong with my computer . i keep getting that popup thing that says "you computer is infected". if anyone could help me that would be so awesome.

Dear X111, :whistling:

Welcome to the Geeks to Go forums.

We are currently studying your log. :blink:
*************************************

Can you please tell me, in detail, what antivirus software you are using on your computer, for example (Norton Antivirus, McAfee Antivirus, or AVG Antivirus, etc.)?

If you do have antivirus software on your computer, can you tell me in detail, if the yearly subscription on this software has expired?

Ok I know this is no excuse but I just got this computer not too long ago and I've been pushing back getting an antivirus software because I'm only on the computer a couple hours a week, heh I always thought the less time i'm online the less it would matter, guess im wrong :whistling:. I would just go buy a software but money's kinda tight right now so I want to exaust all my other options first.

Dear X111, :whistling:

Since you don't have antivirus software on your computer system, AVG makes an excellent free antivirus client, as do AntiVir or avast!.
I suggest you install and run one of these anitivirus software programs.

Here are the steps you should take to install your new antivirus software:1. Create a folder on your desktop and name it "Antivirus"
2. Download the .exe or .zip file to this folder but do not run the executable or zip files respectively at this time.
3. Restart your computer, without connecting to the "Internet".
4. Install your new antivirus software, without connecting to the "Internet".
5. Restart your computer and re-connect to the "Internet" and run your new antivirus software and fix anything it finds.
Restart your computer and then please post a new HijackThis log.

In addition, let me know in detail how your computer system is running after performing the above steps. :blink:

Dear X111, :whistling:

(Note: Please read through these instructions a couple of times before executing the steps in this post.)

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with "Notepad" to your desktop.

Run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entry/entries (if they exist):

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mtxoci] C:\WINDOWS\System32\mtxoci.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [198_150_ni_5] "C:\Documents and Settings\Peter Phan\198_150_ni_5.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" button to finish the repair. Close the HijackThis application.

Next, make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files. Here is how to do this:

Windows XP

* Click "Start".
* Open "My Computer".
* Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
* Select the "View" Tab.
* Under the "Hidden files and folders" heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
* Make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked
* Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
* Click "Yes" to confirm.
* Click "OK".

Here is a link for further explanation: http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

C:\winstall.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\mtxoci.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Peter Phan\198_150_ni_5.exe

Delete the following folder/folders marked in blue (if they exist):

Finally, clean out temporary and Temporary Internet files. Go to Start -> Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
