NDRAM problems - I've read previous posts, but still broken

My computer begins botting, but freezes after it says Checking NVRAM...

Sometimes it freezes later after saying
262144KB OK

Hit DEL if you want to run setup.

However, hitting Del does nothing (although I do wonder if that is a seperate problem...)

My BIOS is by American Megatrend, and below the company name it says A6309MS V3.4 021901

It was made in 1999

Down the bottom of the screen it says 62-0219-000000-00101111-071595-V694V686-1V133001-F

Someone suggested I remove and replace a battery or change jumpers, but I did so and nothing changed.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated.
