Hello Jess and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have quite a mixture of malware and Trojans. Let’s see what we can do.

Please disable Ewido Guard from running as it will hinder our attempts to change anything. Right click on the orange icon in the taskbar (near the clock) and uncheck Resident Shield. The icon will change to a grey colour.

Look in your Control Panel’s Add/Remove Programs for:
PuritySCAN By OIN,
OuterInfo,
OIN or similar
Yazzle by Oin
Snowballwars by Oin
Cowabanga by OIN
or anything similar with Oin in it.
, click on it and click remove.

Reboot and delete this folder if found: C:\Program Files\PurityScan\

If it is not listed, download and run this uninstaller: outerinfo.com/OiUninstaller.exe

Tutorial for the uninstaller if needed

Please download the following programmes, we will run them later. Please save them to a place that you will remember, I suggest the Desktop:

Killbox by Option^Explicit
CCleaner
CWShredder
cwsserviceemove.reg file
combofix.exe

Now please install CWShredder, and run it. Click Check For Update, then Fix and then OK followed by Next, let it fix everything it asks about

Right click on this link Del 015 Domains.inf and choose Save (link) As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://www.mrfindalo.../search.asp?si=
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, C:\WINDOWS\system32\ttlnq.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4D12F248-F4D5-4EA4-A5E3-9D2F8D8BA175} - C:\Program Files\Uninstall Information\megoban.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B732E043-2DF5-0720-D88A-2617B18508C6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ebfygg.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: Ozbyq Class - {D623BC2F-A58D-4A75-A10D-CC244A702A35} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xeymi.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: ComCap - {E1B2E864-8BFC-4072-AE11-924E0F8BBA96} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\comcap16.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cbybqb] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkujrd.exe reg_run
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TheMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\Duce6.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ms060576189388] C:\WINDOWS\ms060576189388.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [yxfcs] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkujrd.exe reg_run
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.sxload.com
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: msdtc.dll

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Please now reboot into safe mode. Here's how:

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap the F8 key. A menu should appear where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Unzip cwsserviceemove.reg file to your desktop. While in safe mode, double click on it and grant it permission to add the registry items.

Please reboot normally

Please install Killbox by Option^Explicit.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select Delete on Reboot
  • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):
C:\WINDOWS\Duce6.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ms060576189388.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ttlnq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\eosrcit.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\comcap16.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkujrd.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtc.dll
  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

There is almost certainly bound to be some junk (leftover bits and pieces) on your system that is doing nothing but taking up space. I would recommend that you run CCleaner. Install it, check the default setting in the left-hand pane, ensure you uncheck old prefetch data found under the system tab, and under the heading of Utilities uncheck Ewido Security Suite log then click Analyze> Run Cleaner. You may be fairly surprised by how much it finds. Also click Issues then Scan for issues – fix selected issues

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When it has finished, it will produce a log. Please post that log in your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and I will take another look.

Hello again Jess

When you say you are on a network, please don't tell me that this is a corporate computer in a company that has an administrator. Whilst I realise that most network administrators would not be able to clean malware from a computer without formatting, most would be quite annoyed to find out that I am changing the registry. Also, be aware that if it is a corporate computer, you may be giving your competitors information over this very public forum.

VundoFix.exe is a removal tool developed to remove Virtumonde infections. To use the tool follow the instructions below.
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log from normal mode.

If Vundofix does not find and delete the files, please try running it bit differently:
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying Vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK.
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once the scan is complete, right-click inside the listbox (white box) and click Add more files?
  • Copy & paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes:
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsz60.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\06zsn.*
  • Click Add Files and click Close Window.
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES.
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt
Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

R3 - URLSearchHook: DeskbarBHO - {A8B28872-3324-4CD2-8AA3-7D555C872D96} - C:\Program Files\Deskbar\deskbar.dll

O16 - DPF: {886DDE35-E955-11D0-A707-000000881958} - http://69.56.176.75/webplugin.cab

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Please set your system to show all files;
please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Deskbar\deskbar.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsz60.dll

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK

Under the "General" Tab

Ensure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" is checked.

Click Apply->OK->Follow the prompts to Restart

Post back a fresh HijackThis log, from normal mode, and I will take another look.

sorry... that part didnt seem to work right. I downlaoded it... double clicked and it just says "scan for vundo" or "remove vundo". (it doesnt say Run VundoFix as task" there is nowhere to check that) I click Scan and it searches and at the end says, "Done Searching for files. No Infected files were found". When i click ok it stays open. I closed it and ran it again... same thing. Then I added the files like you said and it found one and said it deleted it but no log comes up... it just says it deleted it and thats it... no options???

Hello again Jess

When I saw the combofix log, I could see a large amount of malware hidden in your start-up by MSCONFIG, hence the adjustment. This means that I can now see those files in HJT which I couldn’t do before.

The entry that required the Vundo fix tool is called ConHook. It is the file responsible for the vundo download to your PC. It looks as though it has gone, so it would appear to have worked.

Please ensure that all antispyware/antimalware programmes are disabled throughout the fix.

I see an entry for AOL antispyware. I am not familiar with it so I can not give a tutorial.

Please disable Spyware Guard real-time scanning as it will hinder our attempts to change anything. Right click on the SG symbol in your taskbar, select options, remove check or tick from enable real-time scanning

Also please disable Ewido Guard from running. Right click on the orange icon in the taskbar (near the clock) and uncheck Resident Shield. The icon will change to a grey colour.

When your PC has been declared clean, please only enable one of those three programmes to run in real-time. All others should be used as “on demand” scanners. Having more than one antispyware programme running in real-time will cause slowness and even conflicts.

Right click on this link Del 015 Domains.inf and choose Save (link) As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards

Please open, and update Ewido anti-spyware
  • Load Ewido and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Please select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
  • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
  • Deselect "Only if threats were found"
  • Close Ewido. Do not run it yet.
Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Safe Mode

  • In Safe Mode, load Ewido and click on the Scanner tab at the top and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be patient.
  • Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (I suggest the Desktop).
  • Please ensure you post that log in your reply.
Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

When it has finished, it will produce a log. Please post that log in your next reply.

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

"Error loading w46e55e4.dll The specified module couldn not be found". Hello again

Please ensure that the resident antimalware scanners are disabled throughout the fix. They will just reverse any changes we make if left enabled.

Please disable Spyware Guard real-time scanning as it will hinder our attempts to change anything. Right click on the SG symbol in your taskbar, select options, remove check or tick from enable real-time scanning

Also please disable Ewido Guard from running for the same reason. Right click on the orange icon in the taskbar (near the clock) and uncheck Resident Shield. The icon will change to a grey colour.

To start please download:

Hoster

Please run Hoster (just double click it to open). Choose the Restore Original Hosts button and press OK.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zbXb]
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys101893880576] C:\WINDOWS\sys101893880576.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys029388057618] C:\WINDOWS\sys029388057618.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys018938805761] C:\WINDOWS\sys018938805761.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ms058057618938] C:\WINDOWS\ms058057618938.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ms048805761893] C:\WINDOWS\ms048805761893.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mjecc16c] RUNDLL32.EXE w46e55e4.dll,n 002cc16a0000000346e55e4
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kvzscnxA] C:\WINDOWS\kvzscnxA.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ALCMTR] ALCMTR.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [yxfcs] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkujrd.exe reg_run

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

C:\WINDOWS\sys101893880576.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sys029388057618.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sys018938805761.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ms058057618938.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ms048805761893.exe
C:\WINDOWS\w46e55e4.dll
C:\deskbar.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Eim03.exe
C:\WINDOWS\kvzscnxA.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ALCMTR.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dkujrd.exe

Hello again Jess

The log is much improved with just two entries giving any cause for concern now.

I have to ask if this PC is gateway or guest on the network? Also, can I check your logon? Do you have administrator's rights? You can check this in the User Accounts in the Control Panel. Also, you said that Norton was running without your knowledge. I previously saw Norton as your antivirus programme, but I can no longer see one on this PC. That being the case, I strongly recommend downloading and installing AVG for free. Also note that AOL is active on this computer still.

Download:
AVG ANTIVIRUS FREE EDITION

Install AVG, update its virus definitions and perform a full system scan before proceeding any further.

Rescan with HijackThis. Close all programmes leaving only HijackThis running. Place a checkmark or tick against the following:

O2 - BHO: SSL encrypt - {746455FE-D059-47e7-AF0E-140E03F5A447} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsc5.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zbXb]

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Please set your system to show all files;
please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate and delete this file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsc5.dll

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log, from normal mode, and I will take another look.

How's this PC running now?

I am a little concerned about the black screen and message during boot up, although it doesn't sound like a malware problem. Could you please record the exact message you see on screen?H

How's this PC running now?

BTW, if you send me your email address in a PM, I'll send you a birthday email for tomorrow. How many candles?
