Hi there, I hope you can help me. I seem to be having a little problem, browsers load slowly and the whole system in general is running very slowly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have already run the Panda Scan as you suggested and this is what it said:
Potentially unwanted tool - application\HideWindow.A Location: C:\hp\bin\fondleWindow.exe
Potentially unwanted tool\Application\KillApp.B Location: C:\hp\bin\KillIt.exe
Spyware: Spyware/on Web Media Location: C:\program files\TrendMicro\Internet Security\VSS9UG05.00k
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My System is Windows XP Home Edition, SP2 Trend Micro is the fire wall and security as well as SpyWare Sweeper, Spybot Search & Destroy and Spyware Doctor; as well as a few other miscellaneous spyware products that are stand alones, and are only activated, when I choose and are shut down right after, so there are no problems between software.

Windows Update is on and up to date

No Trouble connecting to the internet, but IE has been giving me a few blank pages in the last couple of days and I have been suddenly getting a few pop up ads too (Coincidence?? ~ who knows)

I have run Clean up ~ it cleaned up a fair bit

I have run Ad-aware SE ~no problems there

I have run Spybot S & D ~ no problems there either.

I have the all of my security software to update automatically

When I got up this morning Spyware Sweeper had found and quarateened : iehelper (which has to do with ads), so I deleted that. Here is my HJT Report for your purusement, I hope to hear from you in a couple of days !! Thanks for helping :whistling:

According to your scans and your HijackThis log your computer is clean.

I would however advise you to uninstall AdwareAlert

The following entries can be fixed with HijackThis.
To do so select them and click the Fix checked button.
HijackThis will only prevent them from starting up automatically and the items can easily be restored.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdwareAlert] C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\AdwareAlert.Exe -boot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Acme.PCHButton] C:\PROGRA~1\HPINST~1\plugin\bin\pchbutton.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [pdfSaver3] "c:\Program Files\PDF\pdfSaver\pdfSaver3.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] c:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

Then reboot and proceed with Updating Java and Clearing Cache
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
    Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
  • If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
    Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
Let me know how this works out.

Regards,
