Ok.. Lets see what this contains, Metallica (an expert/global mod from the site) wants to see this, he's helping me...

Locate the Rasphone.pbk file in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk folder.

The Application Data folder is a hidden folder. To view the folder, follow these steps:
Open the All Users folder, and then click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
Click View, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

Once you find the file, right-click it and choose to open in another application (or similar wording, not sure since I have finnish windows), and choose to open it up in Notepad. Copy & paste the contents here :whistling:

I'm not sure if this is in relation to everything or not, but I thought I should let you know, on my hubby's desktop, he can go to pages, ect, but when he tries to log in to anything (myspace, 4horsemen, ect) it won't let him log in.

Hi smawpaws,

Rawe asked me to jump in.

Is your hubby on the same computer? Or do you share the internet connection between your computers?

Second question: do you have a Windows CD if necessary?

He is on the same computer, just different desktop.
I'm not sure about the windows cd. I'll ask when he gets home.

It's that bad, huh?

Not necessarily.

I'm planning to have you uninstall and re-install the TCP-IP protocol.
But during that process there is a possibility that Windows might prompt you for the CD.
So it would be nice to have one handy.

I have had a case like this before and my hair hasn't had the same color since. :whistling:

Want me to keep digging in the morning or is there another way?

Edit: I am getting this kinda things, too. There is this one (screenshot) and there was one at the top of this page when I can to post this, but it had a red arrow.

That's a tough decision. It should be able to find the necessary files without the CD.
But if it does prompt you for the CD and it can't find the files, then you are disconnected from the internet and basically helpless. :whistling:

Let me know if it's really gone and we'll have to figure out another way.

Yep. That's the one. Keep it handy just in case.

Here's what I'd like you to do.

Follow the instructions on this site:
http://www.mvps.org/...p2002/hosts.htm
to replace your hosts file with the one you can download there.

The one you have now was put there by this Trojan:
http://www.sophos.co...ojagentcij.html
and needs to be replaced. We might as well use something usefull then.

Then go to Start > Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections
Then right click on your Default Connection
Left click on Properties.
Click the Networking tab.
Select the TCP/IP protocol for your network card.
Click Remove.
Reboot the computer and go back to the same place.
Now
1. Open the Network Control Panel and click the Add button.
2. Select Protocol (as shown below) and click the Add button.
Posted Image
3. Select Microsoft and TCP/IP as shown below
Posted Image
4. Click OK to close each open Network properties window. Windows will load the files it needs (this is the point where it may need the CD). Then you will be asked to reboot. Let it reboot. After the computer reboots, you're ready to configure the TCP/IP settings.
Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically like you did before.

Let me know how it works out.

Alrighty. I have done the above. Not sure if I did it right or what's going on, but here is my report:

First part (hosts files) went fine.

Middle:
After left clicking on properties, I have no networking tab. I removed the tcp/ip and rebooted.
Again, no networking tab after left click. There was no window/anything that said network or protocl, so those were not selected/added. Did managed to select microsoft tcp/ip and added.
Was never prompted to reboot, so I did it myself.

Last:
Cannot click on only Obtain DNS Servers Automatically. Have to click on ip (which erases them) then I am able to Obtain DNS Servers Automatically. Did that and lost connection. Instead of system restore, I wrote down all my ip/dns numbers beforehand, so I just put them back in.......

And now I sit here to wait for you. :whistling:
