Hi, I booted my computer in safe mode and ran Hijack this. Through the program, I fixed:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Desktop Search] C:\WINDOWS\isrvs\desktop.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ffis] C:\WI :tazz: ;) NDOWS\isrvs\ffisearch.exe

When I booted in safe mode and attempted to delete isrvs file, I was unable to. CWShredder fixed one problem, but didn't get rid of whatever this is. Please help me! I have no idea how to get rid of this virus, and would really appreciate someone looking over everything. Thanks so much!

Here's my logfile (it's kind of long...):

Hi janeway4756

Before we go to fixing the major problems could you take all the steps outlined in this thread http://www.geekstogo...?showtopic=2852

This will help to make it easier to deal with the rest. At the end of all those steps you will be asked to post a new HijackThis log so we can see what's still there and help you get rid of the problems.

I had already done everthing outlined. :tazz: Fortunately, I downloaded Spy Sweeper, which solved the problem.

Unfortunately, I think I might still have a virus or something on my computer, because s she's still running very slowly.

The hijackthis log that I posted is the one done after each step outlined in the "do this before you ask for help" topic was completed.

Thanks!

Hi Janeway4756

Disable System Restore by Right-clicking the My Computer icon on your desktop or the My Computer in the Start Menu. Go to Properties > System Restore tab. Put a tick in the "Turn off system restore on all drives box" You will lose your previous restore points. It can be re-enabled when the malware is fully removed.

Do an online virus scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Make sure you select Heuristics and Clean. Reboot after the the scan is complete and save any log supplied or make a note of any action taken.

You might like to print this out so you can follow the steps when you have no internet access.

Open HijackThis and click on "Do System Scan Only". Check the following items. Close all open windows, including this one and disconnect from the internet. Click on Fix Checked.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode - by tapping F8 as soon your computer starts to boot up - straight after the beep.

To show hidden and system files in Windows XP

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Open Windows Explorer and find and delete these files.

C:\Documents and Settings\Cat\Application Data\rnet.exe
C:\runMe.bat

You will need to search for the next two as we don't have the exact location. Windows Explorer does not search for system or hidden files by default. To set it to search hidden and system files > Click on Search > All files and folders > More advanced options and click.

Be sure the first three boxes are selected:*Search System folders
*Search Hidden Files and folders
*Search SubFolders
Search for these two files and delete all instances you find.
wextilse.exe
setver32.exe

Reboot into normal mode.

We also need to delete this file as well but first we have to identify it properly. It is very close in name to a genuine windows file.

C:\WINXP\System32\??erinit.exe

To correctly identify files with ? in them we need to make a little file.

Launch Notepad, and copy/paste the lines in red below into a new text file. Save as FindFile.bat and make sure that the dropdown box for File Types is set to All Files then save it on your Desktop.

dir C:\WINXP\System32\??erinit.exe /a h > files.txt
notepad files.txt

Locate FindFile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. It will open Notepad with some text in it. Please post the text here with a fresh HijackThis log so we can check progress. There will be some more things to do.
