Hello all. . As of right now I am running in safe mode.I can't boot normally. When I first got this pc I ha d problems but replaced ram and all wa swell until last night. I noticed that windows ,after the logo and before the blue logon screen, was going dark momentarily before my desktop ,a few seconds anyway, and now I can only boot in safe mode. When I try to boot normally the screen just times out fter the xp logo. I ran chkdsk, virus scan but nothing comes up. The event viewer gave the following info.As far as I know I have the latest bios.Specs are as follows:P4 3.0 dual core.2gb Kingston ddr2 667 mhz,80 gb hitachi deskstar,2 7800 gt's,on board audio.Mobo is asus p5n32 sli deluxe.Ok the attachments didnt go.The following drivers or hardware did not load:fips, ipsec, mpfirewallMRxSmb,net bios,NetBt ,processor,rasacd,rdbss,tcp\ip.Also it is saying a device attached to the system is not dunctioning. Also, volume shadow copy service errorunexpected error calling on line routine cocreate instance hr=ox80040206,and last but not least, com+event system detected a bad return code during internal processing.Ther are more but maybe this will help. Thanks for any help.

I finally got system restore to work but I am still unsure what caused it.All seems to be normal but the investigation continues. It may have been a program I installed which ,while I love it,am beginning to wonder about it's stability.

Nine times out of ten when that happens it is either a driver problem or a rogue program trying to load on startup that causes this problem.
