im having problems on my copmuter
first off
i cant open my task manager...
it opens for a split second and closes right away
sometimes it doesn even open at all

i tried using an anti-virus on it
Norton 2005
i installed it, and restarted my computer
i tried to open it but it said i needed to restart my computer
so i did again
and it still gave me the same message
so i unisntalled 2005, and installed 2004
before installing it had a search on my comp for viruses and found 4
all named bloodhound, wich i later found out is viruses that norton cant name

i cant open anything Norton related, and i cant open my task manager...there`s no message for the task manager
i can open games, no problem there....sometimes i have problems opening windows media player, it gives me a massage that`s an internal error has occured
but then sometimes it will open

can anyone help?

you either have a system policy in effect, trojan/virus or both....a hijackthis log would be helpful in determining the issue.

well, you could do it manually....

start with msconfig...msconfig does not reveal everything, but depending on how stupid the virus writer was......

Start > Run > type
msconfig

go to the SERVICES tab, check HIDE ALL MICROSOFT SERVICES...determine what does or does not belong, uncheck those that don't

go to the STARTUP tab, uncheck the programs that do not belong...if you wish to list them, I can tell you what is good and what is bad

I was reading your post, and if you go to safe mode you will be able to run regedit or msconfig and taskmanager too.................................. at least you can access it there. This just started after my kids were on AIM and clicked something, so I have this bug too. I have mcafee and adaware , also a new thing I just downloaded, nothing is finding the problem so I am trying hijack this

hope it helps! Colleen
