I did something wrong on my computer one time, now almost all the appilcations on my computer will open with the Notepad ( it's odd ok). I don't know how to fix this :whistling: . I can't do a system restore and I don't want to reboot my computer.
So can some one help me?

Woops this is posted in the wrong catagory, I'm a bit new to this.

Hello gamefr3ak.

You said that all applications will open with notepad, I want to confirm that applications you are talking about are *.exe files. If so, then proceed:

1. Click Start > Run > type: Regedit

2. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ FileExts \ .exe

3. In the right-pane, delete these two values if present:
  • Application
  • ProgID
4. Close TheRegistry Editor

Try getting tuneup2006 and run it, in part of one of its diagnostics and repairs it checks and fixes file assosciations.

have you consider this to be a malware issue

you did restore it earlier and it went back to the same opening in notepad

you opened a file and choose notepad or it went to notepad now your stuck there still thinks its infection

if your infected and want to download these update them

http://www.ccleaner.com/

http://www.ewido.net/en/

http://www.filehippo...nload_ad-aware/

run all these programs in safe mode...

go start .. click run..type in.. msconfig click ok ..on the boot tab select safeboot restart

then download this

post it in the malware forum
