The second partition on a drive is innaccessible after two viruses ansarin and spysherif. The windows xp (re)install on partition 1 could not save information to system volume information on (logical) drive 2. So I conclude (since chkdsk and defrag explorer cannot access the drive) that its looking bad.

Are there any magic, all-encompassing tools which enable you to get out of death-eater situation like this since there was / is data on the drive I need.

Much thanks
